Finding Superhero In Havana
(2021)
A chilling account of trust and achievement, deceit and failure, and faith in the noble life-lessons learned from his family, Garcia-Piedra’s tale mirrors that of millions of immigrants who suffered a similar fate. Orlando faced multiple challenges as he grew up, always staying close to his older brother, Humberto. Influenced primarily by his mother and older brother, Orlando develops in a world of fantasy, filled by ghosts, and dreams, while creating an alter ego (Superboy) in order to find courage and power towards becoming independent and achieving respect from others.

About Orlando Garcia-Piedra
Born in Havana, Cuba, on August 24, 1946, Dr. Orlando Garcia-Piedra begins his writing career with this first book, a childhood memoir, “Finding Superhero in Havana.” The author, a seventy-five years old grandfather, finds his childhood self through the filter of magical realism.
